Bulk Biochar
Biochar in Bulk
Purpose-built biochar for commercial use. Whether you’re blending compost, designing engineered soils, or managing large-scale landscape projects, Standard Biochar delivers consistency, purity, and proven performance.
Made in Maine from source-verified sawmill residuals, our biochar offers unmatched quality and carbon value — available in bulk quantities for professional and industrial applications. Standard Biochar is packaged in 2-cubic-yard super sacks (supersacks), with up to 88 yards shipped on a flatbed.
Why Standard Biochar?
Not all biochar is created equal. Unlike byproducts or high-carbon fly ash, Standard Biochar is purpose-made for soil and industrial performance.
Our biochar is:
90% organic carbon
Produced in a state-of-the-art Pyreg German kiln using consistent spruce + fir feedstock
Low in ash content, with pH close to neutral
Tested for PFAS, PAHs, dioxins, and metals
High in porosity and cation exchange capacity (CEC) to hold water, nutrients, and microbial life
Fully source-verified and continually analyzed at respected third-party labs
Certified by OMRI, with detailed lab results available on request
Made in the USA, supporting New England’s sustainable forest trades — using only sawmill residuals (no trees harvested to produce our biochar)
How It’s Used in Bulk Applications
From green infrastructure to advanced materials, Standard Biochar integrates easily into large-scale systems:
Engineered soils for green roofs, bioretention basins, and urban greening installations
Compost blending for finished topsoil, turf applications, or soil amendment sales
Municipal applications to improve tree health and reduce stormwater contaminants such as road salts and petroleum residues
Specialty soils for golf courses, athletic fields, ponds, and wetlands restoration
Advanced materials including supercapacitors, graphene production, and next-generation bio-battery development
Trusted by leaders such as Read Custom Soils, Shelburne Farms, and Ted Carter Landscaping — with new projects in turf and urban forestry underway.
Innoculation Guidance
Raw biochar should be inoculated before use to avoid nutrient tie-up during the first growing season. Many of our bulk buyers blend biochar with compost or activate it with liquid amendments to unlock its full potential.
We recommend:
20% compost or liquid inoculant (such as compost tea or fish emulsion)
Allowing biochar to “rest” for at least two weeks before incorporation into soils, especially in spring applications
Our team can help determine the best inoculation method for your system.
Ordering & Availability
Standard Biochar is available in bulk — by the cubic yard, super sack, or truckload.
Format: 2-cubic-yard super sacks
Volume: Up to 88 yards per flatbed (FOB Enfield, ME)
Lead times: Vary by season and volume. Contact us early for large-scale projects or standing orders.
We ship throughout the Northeast and coordinate directly with blending facilities, nurseries, compost operations, and industrial buyers.
Sustainability Benefits
Every pound of Standard Biochar represents long-term carbon storage. With a stable carbon ratio of approximately 1:2.8, our biochar contributes measurable climate benefits to every project.
As a carbon-smart material, it supports:
Green infrastructure and public works compliance
Long-term sustainability goals for municipalities, landscapers, and soil producers
Conservation and restoration projects seeking durable, science-backed materials
